If you’ve never seen the movie, you’ll probably need a little backstory: Sophie is cursed by a witch and turned into an old woman. Upon finding the castle of the wizard Howl, she meets a Fire Demon named Calcifer. *Spoiler alert* Near the end of the film, Calcifer uses Sophie’s hair as fuel to cast a spell, thus assisting her in finding Howl and breaking her old age spell.
